Part 1: Evaluating Culture

One of the things you will be asked to do in many of your courses is to write about some aspect of culture, whether your own or that of others. Usually, when we write about a cultural topic, it's in the form of evaluation rather than argumentation. Evaluation essays involve a great deal of critical thinking and should be comprised of a balance between facts and observations that you've collected from reputable sources and your own judgement, which should be based on some logical thinking on your part.

In most cases, any academic essay you write should follow this general structure:
